
Pfaff Motorsports Secures Victory at IMSA VIR Amid Late Penalty Drama
Sandy Mitchell and Andrea Caldarelli achieved victory for Pfaff Motorsports in the Michelin GT Challenge held at Virginia International Raceway. Mitchell, who took over from pole-sitter Caldarelli, finished the race with a margin of 1.517 seconds on the 3.27-mile course.
Ford Racing's Ben Barker and Dennis Olson secured second place, followed by teammates Christopher Mies and Frederic Vervisch in third. The GTD class experienced a dramatic turn when Tom Gamble received a drive-through penalty for late contact, allowing Philip Ellis to claim the win for Winward Racing.
This victory marked the third consecutive win for Winward Racing, which now leads the GTD points standings. The race also saw significant incidents, including a collision involving Alexander Sims that brought out a caution, impacting the race's dynamics.
