PGTI Launches Race to DP World India Championship
The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and DP World have announced the launch of the Race to DP World India Championship in New Delhi. This new season-long competition aims to restructure the Indian golfing calendar to align more closely with the DP World Tour.
The champion of the 2026 Order of Merit will be determined after the DP World India Championship, scheduled for October, concluding a series of nine tournaments throughout the year. The first three events, including the J&K Open, Coal India Open, and Kolar Open, took place in August, with the final event, the Kapil Dev Invitational Tour Championship, set to occur in Greater Noida from September 30 to October 3.
At the conclusion of the Race, the top 24 players will qualify for the DP World India Championship, while the top 60 players on the PGTI Order of Merit will secure their playing rights for the following year. The PGTI president emphasized that this initiative aims to elevate Indian golf's presence on the global stage and enhance competitive standards throughout the season.
