Phil Dowson Optimistic About Henry Pollock's Contract Extension
Phil Dowson, the head coach of Northampton, has expressed optimism regarding the extension of Henry Pollock's contract, despite the player's agent seeking a significant salary increase. Pollock, a product of the Saints academy, is currently under contract until summer 2027, earning approximately £150,000 annually.
Dowson acknowledged the efforts of boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who is advocating for Pollock to receive a contract worth £1 million per year. While Dowson respects Hearn's role in promoting Pollock, he emphasized the importance of finding a balance that allows the player to remain with the team, as Pollock has expressed a desire to win titles with Northampton.
Despite Pollock's marketability and recent successes, including two titles in three seasons, the club is cautious about salary expenditures due to the salary cap regulations in the Premiership. Dowson remains hopeful that negotiations will progress positively, aiming to retain Pollock's talents for the future.
