Philipp Eng to Depart BMW After 11-Year Partnership
Philipp Eng will end his 11-year association with BMW M Motorsport following the conclusion of the 2026 season. The decision comes as both parties agreed not to extend his factory contract, allowing Eng to explore new opportunities starting in 2027.
Eng, a prominent figure in GT3 and GTP racing, began his tenure with BMW in 2016, achieving notable victories including three wins at the Spa 24 Hours and a GTLM class win at the 2019 24 Hours of Daytona. He also competed in the DTM from 2018 to 2022, securing one victory and five podiums in 72 races.
In recent years, Eng has been a key driver for BMW's LMDh initiative, achieving two race wins and five podium finishes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. BMW M Motorsport's boss acknowledged Eng's contributions and expressed gratitude for his successful career with the brand. Eng's future plans remain unconfirmed, but rumors suggest a potential move to an American manufacturer.
