Philippines Investigates Allegations Against Meghan Markle's Father
Philippine authorities are currently investigating allegations against Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan Markle, regarding the possession of child sex abuse images. The inquiry was prompted by claims from Thomas Markle Jr., who stated he discovered a collection of such images at their father's former residence in the Philippines.
Markle Jr. reported to local police that he found these disturbing materials mixed with family photographs. He also reached out to the FBI in July regarding the matter. Nicholas Ty, an undersecretary for the Philippines Department of Justice, confirmed that their Anti-Trafficking and Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children taskforce is handling the investigation.
In response to the allegations, Thomas Sr. denied having any child sex images, labeling the accusations as false. Meghan Markle disclosed that she was informed of troubling allegations about her father in 2018, which were reportedly being investigated by Scotland Yard. The FBI has acknowledged the allegations and is prepared to assist Philippine authorities as needed.
