Phillies Add Rafael Marchán and Grant Holman as September Call-Ups

The Philadelphia Phillies have expanded their roster to 28 players for September, adding catcher Rafael Marchán and right-handed pitcher Grant Holman as they pursue a playoff berth.

Marchán returns after a month on the injured list due to patellar tendinitis in his left knee. He had a challenging season prior to his injury, with a batting average of .102 in 92 plate appearances. His recent performance in Triple-A was not strong enough to expedite his return before the roster expansion.

Holman, who joined the Phillies organization in May after being claimed off waivers from the Tigers, has a background with the Oakland Athletics. He has shown promise in Triple-A, posting a 1.04 ERA over 17 ⅓ innings in 13 games, indicating he could be a valuable asset in the bullpen this September.
