Phillies Bullpen Struggles in Extra-Inning Loss to Braves
The Philadelphia Phillies suffered a 6-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves in 11 innings on Friday, struggling without closer Jhoan Duran.
In the game, Jonathan Bowlan and Chase Shugart each failed to secure saves, allowing the Braves to tie the game in the ninth and tenth innings, respectively. In the bottom of the eleventh, Brooks Raley allowed two runs, culminating in a walk-off hit by Drake Baldwin.
Along with Duran, Orion Kerkering was also unavailable, further complicating the Phillies' bullpen situation. With only 14 games remaining, the Phillies now trail the Braves by five games, effectively making it a six-game gap due to the Braves holding the head-to-head tiebreaker.
