Pierre Gasly Reflects on Monaco Ruling Ahead of Monza F1 Qualifying

Pierre Gasly expressed that the FIA's International Court of Appeal decision to strip him of his podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix has negatively affected his motivation this weekend. Despite this setback, he achieved his first Formula 1 pole position at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

The ICA's ruling overturned the Monaco stewards' decision regarding Gasly's pitlane speeding penalties, which were based on inaccurate measurements. Initially finishing third, he was later classified seventh after a series of penalties. Following this, Gasly secured pole position at Monza, edging out Mercedes' George Russell by 0.060 seconds.

Gasly's performance in qualifying was a significant improvement from earlier practice sessions, where he placed 14th and 9th. He attributed his success to the team's effective strategy and car balance. Although he acknowledged the challenges ahead, especially with strong competitors behind him, he remains optimistic about his chances in the race.
