Pirates Defeat Marlins 13-1 with Ashcraft's Complete Game and Flores' Homers
The Pittsburgh Pirates triumphed over the Miami Marlins with a score of 13-1 on Thursday in Miami. Braxton Ashcraft delivered a complete-game performance, allowing only three hits while striking out ten batters.
Rafael Flores contributed significantly with two three-run homers, while Jared Triolo and Jacob Gonzalez also hit home runs. Jake Mangum had a standout game, going 3 for 4 with three runs scored. The Pirates broke the game open with a two-run fifth inning and added more runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
This victory marked the end of a three-game losing streak for the Pirates. Ashcraft became the first Pirate to complete a nine-inning game since May 2024 and did so in under 100 pitches, a feat not achieved by a Pirate since 2017. The Marlins' Tyler Phillips took the loss, giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings.
