Pirates Interested in Mets Reliever Huascar Brazobán

The Pirates' bullpen has been underperforming, ranking in the lower half of the league in several metrics, prompting General Manager Ben Cherington to seek further improvements. Brazobán, who is 36 years old and in his first year of arbitration eligibility, has a salary of $1.05 million, which would decrease to approximately $300,000 if acquired by August 3.

Brazobán has posted a 2.61 ERA and 3.88 SIERA over 51 2/3 innings this season, making him an appealing option for the Pirates, who are operating under payroll constraints. Although the Mets are not in a rebuilding phase, they may consider trading Brazobán, who is enjoying a career-best season, especially given his age and the potential for decline in performance.
