Pirelli Concludes 2,948km Tyre Test at Mugello
Pirelli has successfully completed a two-day tyre test at Mugello, involving teams from McLaren, Red Bull, and Audi, as part of the development for the 2027 tyre range.
During the test, drivers Liam Lawson and Oscar Piastri participated on Wednesday, with Lawson completing 116 laps for Red Bull on the C2 prototype, while Piastri drove 93 laps for McLaren, testing the C1, C2, and C3 options. On Thursday, Lando Norris, Ayumu Iwasa, and Nico Hulkenberg took over, with Norris completing 115 laps, Iwasa covering 117 laps, and Hulkenberg finishing with 121 laps.
In total, the five drivers completed 562 laps, equating to approximately 2,948 kilometres. The high track temperatures, exceeding 50 degrees, provided Pirelli with valuable data on the harder tyre compounds. While lap times from these tests are not directly competitive due to varying conditions, the significant mileage is crucial for tyre design ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 season.
