Pirelli Introduces Coloured Tyre Markings for 2027 MotoGP Season

Pirelli is set to enhance the MotoGP experience in 2027 by introducing tyres that feature different coloured stripes for each compound, similar to its Formula 1 offerings. This change comes as Pirelli takes over as the sole tyre supplier, replacing Michelin, which has held the contract since 2016.

The new technical regulations for 2027 will also include the introduction of 850cc engines, a ban on ride-height devices, restrictions on aerodynamic development, and a shift to 100% non-fossil fuel. Pirelli has been preparing for this transition since March 2025 and has already delivered tyres to MotoGP's five manufacturers, including Ducati and Honda.

Recently, Pirelli delivered a batch of 400 tyres to MotorLand for the Aragon Grand Prix, with each manufacturer receiving 80 tyres for testing. The new tyres will feature colour-coded markings to identify different compounds and types, making it easier for fans to distinguish between them. The complete range will be available for testing at the official Valencia test scheduled for December 1.
