Pistons Confirm Ron Holland's 2027/28 Rookie Option
The Detroit Pistons have officially exercised their rookie scale team option on Ron Holland for the 2027/28 season, guaranteeing his salary of $11.5 million. This decision was reported by Keith Smith of Spotrac and noted in RealGM's transaction log.
Holland, selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is set to enter his third season. He will earn approximately $9.1 million in the 2026/27 season. By securing this option, Holland becomes eligible for an extension in the 2027 offseason and may enter restricted free agency in 2028 if he does not sign a new contract.
Despite participating in 159 of 164 regular season games for the Pistons, Holland has faced challenges in maintaining consistent offensive production, averaging 7.3 points and 1.1 assists per game. Nevertheless, he has been a key player in the rotation, contributing to the team's success with 44 wins in his rookie year and 60 wins last season, while being recognized as one of the team's top perimeter defenders.
