Plans for New Health Centre at Maghull Town Hall Site
The site of Maghull Town Hall, which suffered significant damage from a fire last year, may be repurposed into a new health centre, according to Sefton MP Bill Esterson.
Esterson is backing plans from the NHS leaders at Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board to develop the site into an NHS Neighbourhood Health Centre. Following the fire in February 2025, the town council has been evaluating the future of the town hall and surrounding land.
During a recent town council meeting, it was decided that council officers would continue discussions with the Integrated Care Board. Esterson noted that he has advocated for better health facilities in Maghull for years and sees this as a significant opportunity. The NHS is currently working on a business plan, and the site is considered ideal due to its proximity to a leisure centre, which promotes health and physical activity. The government aims to establish 250 neighbourhood health centres across England by 2035, with 120 expected by 2030.
