Pogačar Claims Third Stage Win at Vuelta a España Amidst Tough Competition

Tadej Pogačar achieved his third stage victory in the Vuelta a España on Thursday, though it was not without difficulty. Enric Mas of Movistar managed to catch up to Pogačar after he initially created a significant lead, leading to a sprint finish where Pogačar triumphed.

Pogačar had built a gap of over 40 seconds before Mas closed in, showcasing a rare moment of vulnerability from the Slovenian cyclist. He narrowly avoided a mishap on a steep downhill section, requiring him to push his bike back onto the road. Belgian cyclist Ramses Debruyne finished third, moving up in the general classification.

Sepp Kuss and other competitors fell behind during the final stretch, losing crucial time in the overall standings. Following this stage, Pogačar leads the general classification by 3:34 over Mas, while Primož Roglič dropped to third place. The stage covered 178 kilometers with significant elevation changes, including a challenging final climb.
