Police Delay Release of Video Related to Josh Jacobs Incident
Josh Jacobs, a running back for the Packers, is currently on paid leave during the early weeks of the 2026 season, as the NFL awaits access to a critical video related to a battery incident that led to a guilty plea.
Wisconsin police are postponing the release of this video to both the NFL and the media. Although a judge lifted a temporary sealing order last month, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department is holding off on disclosure due to ongoing legal actions, as the involved lawyers plan to seek a new court order to block the release.
Police Chief Michael Renkas indicated that while some records could be released with redactions, the department must adhere to statutory waiting periods and court orders. There is speculation within the league that Jacobs may return from leave soon, but it is unlikely he will play until the NFL reviews the video, given past controversies surrounding similar situations.
