
Police Implement Dispersal Order in Prescot Amid Machete Reports
Merseyside Police have established a dispersal order in Prescot after receiving reports of youths on electric bikes wielding machetes and chasing individuals. The incidents were reported around 18:30 BST on Tuesday.
The dispersal order, effective until 19:30 BST on Wednesday, covers an area defined by Liverpool Road/Derby Street, High Street/Warrington Road, Stoney Lane, Halsnead Park, and the Prescot/Whiston side of the M57. Armed officers are actively searching the area as investigations continue.
Insp Louie Lyons emphasized that the use of weapons is dangerous and unacceptable. The police have been granted additional powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, allowing them to search individuals and vehicles suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
