Police Implement Dispersal Order in St Helens Due to Fireworks Incidents
Merseyside Police have established a dispersal order in parts of St Helens and Rainhill after receiving reports of teenagers throwing fireworks at vehicles. The order took effect at 23:30 BST on Saturday and will remain in place until 05:00 on Monday.
Insp Neil Taylor indicated that the order was a response to incidents of anti-social behavior, including the use of fireworks and reckless cycling. Additional police officers are patrolling the area to address these issues and ensure community safety.
The dispersal order is authorized under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, allowing police to direct individuals suspected of causing disturbances to leave the area for up to 48 hours. Officers also have the authority to confiscate items used in such behavior.
