Polymarket Withdraws Bet on Patrick Mahomes' Week 1 Participation

Polymarket has withdrawn a wager concerning Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' participation in the team's Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos. This decision came shortly after the company self-certified the wager.

The withdrawal followed a request from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which asked Polymarket and other prediction market operators to eliminate such bets. While Polymarket complied, Kalshi continued to offer the wager as of Friday.

The NFL has expressed concerns about prediction markets related to player injuries, categorizing the Mahomes wager as injury-related. NFL executive Jeff Miller indicated that the league hopes the CFTC will establish a process to evaluate the viability of such wagers before they are made available.
