Porsche Seeks Unified Rules Framework by Christmas for 2030 Racing Plans
Porsche Motorsport head Thomas Laudenbach has stated that a comprehensive technical framework is essential for manufacturers as they consider a return to top-class racing in 2030. He emphasized the need for this framework to be established by Christmas to provide adequate time for evaluation of future programs.
The FIA and ACO have already outlined key principles for the upcoming regulations, which aim to replace the current LMH/LMDh structure in sports car racing. While some aspects, such as the ban on all-wheel drive and the retention of hybrid powertrains, have been defined, significant details, including the power distribution between electric and internal combustion engines, remain unresolved.
Laudenbach also highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum in prototype racing, especially following the departure of several manufacturers, including Porsche from the WEC. He noted that strict cost control will be a priority in the new rules cycle, and he welcomed the recent extension of the agreement between the FIA and ACO, which ensures the continued joint management of the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
