
Port Washington Little League Aims for Historic Trip to Williamsport
The Port Washington Little League is poised to make history as they pursue their first New York State championship and a chance to compete in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This marks a significant moment for the team, which has never achieved this milestone in its 63-year history.
Currently, the team is three wins away from their goal, facing strong competitors from Bayonne Central, New Jersey; Darien, Connecticut; and Lincoln, Rhode Island. Their first match in the double-elimination tournament is scheduled against Lincoln at 4 p.m. on Saturday, broadcasted on ESPN+.
The players have expressed excitement about the journey, with team bonding activities, including video games and outdoor sports, contributing to their camaraderie. Assistant coach Anthony Theoharis highlighted the team's hard work and persistence, emphasizing their readiness to embrace the challenge ahead.
