Potential Successors to Roger Goodell Identified Amid Contract Talks

Roger Goodell is attending the annual gold jacket distribution event in Canton this week, a ceremony he is expected to join in the future, following in the footsteps of his predecessors who are already in the Hall of Fame.

With Goodell's current contract set to expire in March 2027, speculation about his successor has intensified. Mark Maske from Front Office Sports has identified 11 potential candidates, including notable figures such as PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp and NFL executive Peter O’Reilly. Other names on the list include NFL general counsel Ted Ullyot and Bears president Kevin Warren.

While some believe Goodell may remain in his position for an extended period, the list of candidates provides a starting point for discussions should negotiations falter. Notably, Adam Silver is not considered a viable option. The evolving landscape of the NFL may eventually necessitate a restructuring of leadership roles, potentially leading to a CEO overseeing the business and a football czar managing operations.
