Prem Rugby Cup: Bristol Bears, Saracens, and Harlequins Secure Victories
Bristol Bears began their Prem Rugby Cup campaign with a thrilling 43-40 victory over local rivals Gloucester at Ashton Gate, scoring seven tries in the match.
The Bears dominated the first half with tries from Paddy Pearce, Jimmy Halliwell, Gabriel Ibitoye, and Noah Heward, while Gloucester responded with scores from Dan Robson, Ben Redshaw, and Phil Cokanasiga. Bristol extended their lead with additional tries from James Williams and Harry Thacker, but Gloucester fought back with further tries from Cokanasiga, Jack Clement, and Junior Denny, making for a tense finish.
In Pool B, Harlequins defeated defending champions Leicester Tigers 45-21 at Twickenham Stoop, with Theo Povey scoring twice. The Quins established a strong lead in the first half with four tries, while the Tigers managed only one. Despite a second-half resurgence from Leicester, Harlequins maintained their offensive momentum, adding three more tries to secure the win.
Saracens completed a remarkable comeback against Northampton Saints, winning 96-42 after trailing 28-19 at halftime. The second half saw Saracens score 11 tries, including a hat-trick from Jack Bracken, while Northampton added two late tries to earn a bonus point.
