The latest round of the Prem Rugby Cup saw Newcastle Red Bulls, Harlequins, Exeter, and Gloucester all secure victories. Newcastle began their season with a 36-24 win against Leicester at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, marking a successful debut for new head coach Dan McFarland and several new players.
Newcastle established a commanding 21-0 lead at halftime with tries from Will Rigg, Harrison Obatoyinbo, and Alex Hearle. Despite Leicester's attempts to close the gap with scores from Gabriel Hamer-Webb and others, Newcastle maintained their advantage, with additional tries from Werner Kok and Allan Ferrie.
Harlequins also continued their strong start by defeating Northampton Saints 29-14, while Exeter triumphed over Bristol with a 45-21 scoreline. Gloucester rounded out the day with a 43-26 victory against Sale, showcasing a dominant performance with seven tries.
