President Trump Meets Lifeguards and Rescue Victim in Santa Cruz
On Monday, President Donald Trump met with members of the California State Parks Lifeguards and the young victim of a recent rescue in Santa Cruz, California. The meeting took place weeks after the rescue gained significant attention due to the challenging surf conditions at Seabright Beach on July 25.
Among those present were 16-year-old lifeguard Ryder Williams, who performed the rescue, and 10-year-old Nathaniel Rai, who was saved. They were joined by other lifeguards involved in the effort, as well as their families. During the meeting, California State Parks Aquatic Superintendent Justin McHenry emphasized the significant responsibilities and integrity required of lifeguards.
Nathaniel's father expressed gratitude to Williams and the lifeguard team for their actions, noting that Nathaniel's birthday was approaching. Trump acknowledged the importance of lifeguards and discussed the potential for designating them as first responders, which could enhance their legal protections and benefits. He indicated his support for this legislative initiative.
