President Trump to Lead Inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix in D.C.
U.S. President Donald Trump is set to participate in the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, an IndyCar race taking place on the streets of Washington D.C. this weekend. He will wave the green flag to start the race after taking a lap around the track in the 'Beast', his armored limousine.
The event is part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States, following an executive order signed by Trump in January to facilitate the race. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy will wave the checkered flag at the conclusion of the race.
The 1.7-mile street course will feature a 25-car IndyCar field racing past significant landmarks, including the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument. The race is scheduled to begin just after 1pm EST, with airspace restrictions in place above Reagan National Airport during the event.
