The NBA is projecting maximum salaries for the 2027/28 season, with estimates based on a salary cap of $174 million. Recent contract extensions signed in the 2026/27 season will influence these figures, although they will not take effect until the following season.

Players re-signing with their current teams can expect maximum salaries based on their years of experience, with those having six years or less eligible for 25% of the cap, while players with seven to nine years can earn 30%, and those with ten or more years can receive 35% of the cap. For instance, Victor Wembanyama's extension with the Spurs will reflect the 25% cap figure, while Donovan Mitchell's new extension with the Cavaliers will be worth approximately $272.8 million over four years.

For players signing with new teams, maximum contracts will be limited to four years and will feature lower annual raises. A player like Brandon Miller could see a contract worth around $187 million, while veterans with more experience could earn up to $262 million if they change teams.
