ProRef Admits Error in Haaland's Derby Goal Decision
ProRef has recognized an error in the decision to award Erling Haaland's goal during the Manchester derby, which resulted in Manchester United's loss to Manchester City.
The incident occurred when Haaland scored from a deflected cross, initially flagged for offside. After a VAR review, the goal was allowed, with the officials determining that Haaland was onside due to Patrick Dorgu's involvement, despite Enzo Fernandez's offside position during the play.
United's manager, Michael Carrick, expressed confusion over the decision, questioning the interpretation of the rules regarding interference. ProRef later issued a statement admitting the mistake and stated that a review of the incident would be conducted.
