Purdue Extends Contract with Head Coach Matt Painter
Purdue University has confirmed a contract extension for head coach Matt Painter, who has led the men's basketball program since 2005. The new agreement will keep him with the team until the 2030-31 season.
Painter has achieved a record of 501 wins and 224 losses during his tenure, resulting in a winning percentage of .681. He has guided the Boilermakers to the NCAA Tournament 17 times, including a Final Four appearance in the 2023-24 season. Along with the extension, Painter will receive a raise and be eligible for performance bonuses.
Purdue's Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Tommy McClelland, praised Painter's leadership and the culture he has built within the program, which includes a notable 106-game sellout streak at Mackey Arena. Painter, a former player at Purdue, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue coaching at his alma mater.
