Qatar Grand Prix Set to Proceed Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict
The MotoGP Teams Association has announced that the Qatar Grand Prix will go ahead as scheduled in three weeks, despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The race, which was postponed from April, is now set for November 6-8.
Although many European nations are advising against travel to Qatar, the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group has received assurances from local authorities regarding safety. The International Road-Racing Teams Association has communicated with teams, emphasizing a contingency plan developed by the local promoter. Meetings between teams and championship executives have reinforced the intention to proceed with the event.
However, there is a divide among riders, with a majority expressing concerns about traveling to Doha. The upcoming discussions at Phillip Island will further address these concerns. The situation remains dynamic, with the championship's leadership prioritizing the safety of all involved.
