Questions Raised Over Kuldeep Yadav's Limited Overs in Test Against Sri Lanka
In the first Test against Sri Lanka held in Galle, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif expressed concerns regarding captain Shubman Gill's management of spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who bowled only 25 overs throughout the match.
Kuldeep managed to take one wicket, while fellow spinners Manav Suthar and Ravindra Jadeja collectively bowled around 44 overs and claimed 14 wickets. Despite India's victory by 165 runs, Kaif suggested that the limited use of Kuldeep indicated a lack of confidence from Gill.
Kaif emphasized the importance of longer spells for wrist-spinners like Kuldeep to find their rhythm and correct mistakes. He also supported the view that Kuldeep is India's top spinner in overseas conditions, particularly on flatter pitches. As India prepares for their next Test in Colombo, there is speculation about the potential inclusion of all-rounder Saransh Jain, especially given the performance of Sri Lanka's left-handed batsmen in the previous match.
