Rafael Camara Joins Haas for 2027 Formula 1 Season
Rafael Camara, a 21-year-old Brazilian driver currently leading the Formula 2 championship, has been signed by the US-based Haas team for his debut Formula 1 season in 2027.
Camara was chosen after a selection process that included evaluations of four drivers, where he outperformed reigning F2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli and Haas reserve drivers Jack Doohan and Ryo Hirakawa. The assessments took place during tests in previous years' F1 cars, including a session at the Portimao track in Portugal.
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu expressed excitement about Camara's potential, noting his impressive performance during the tests. While Haas has not yet confirmed who will drive their other car next season, Oliver Bearman is expected to retain his seat. Camara acknowledged the significance of this opportunity and expressed his eagerness to prepare for the challenges ahead.
