Rafael Camara Selects Number 50 for Haas F1 Debut
Rafael Camara has decided to race with number 50 for his anticipated Formula 1 debut with Haas in 2027, establishing a connection to his birthday after his preferred number was already taken.
The Brazilian initially wanted the number five, which is assigned to Gabriel Bortoleto. His chosen number reverses the digits while still relating to his birth date of May 5, 2005. Camara mentioned that this decision came after discussions with his father, although it remains a preference until the FIA releases the official entry list.
Haas has previously utilized the number 50 for reserve and substitute drivers, including Ryo Hirakawa and Oliver Bearman. Camara is set to replace Esteban Ocon next season following a successful test at Portimao, and he currently leads the Formula 2 championship by seven points over Nikola Tsolov. Bearman is anticipated to remain alongside him, although Haas has not yet confirmed its full lineup for 2027.
