Teenage tennis player Rafael Jodar is on track to break the record for the fastest ascent to the ATP top 10 after reaching the semi-finals of the Canada Open.

Rafael Jodar, a 19-year-old tennis player from Spain, is close to breaking the record for the fastest rise to the top 10 in men's tennis history. He achieved this milestone by defeating Arthur Fils in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open in Montreal.

Jodar won the match with scores of 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, and is currently ranked 11th in the ATP live rankings. If he wins his semi-final against Brandon Nakashima, he will enter the top 10, unless Ben Shelton also reaches the final, in which case Jodar would need to win against Shelton as well.

The current record for the quickest transition from the top 100 to the top 10 is held by Boris Becker, who accomplished it in 210 days at the age of 18 in 1985. Jodar could achieve this in just 140 days. His rapid ascent has surpassed that of other modern tennis greats, including Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. Jodar's performance this season has garnered significant attention, and he is now considered one of the top contenders for the upcoming US Open.
