Raiders Coach Confirms Kirk Cousins as Starting QB Amid Losing Streak
Following the Las Vegas Raiders' fourth consecutive loss, coach Klint Kubiak has declared that Kirk Cousins will remain the starting quarterback. This decision comes after a 35-21 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams, with Cousins set to lead the team into their upcoming game against the New York Jets.
Kubiak emphasized that Cousins is performing at a high level, ranking third in the league with 1,877 passing yards this season. Despite the team's struggles, Kubiak believes Cousins provides the best chance for immediate success. While Fernando Mendoza, the team's first-round draft pick, will eventually play, Kubiak did not specify a timeline for his debut.
The Raiders are currently 3-4 and face a critical stretch ahead. Kubiak suggested that Mendoza could see action during the team's bye week in Week 13, allowing him to gain experience as the season progresses. Mendoza has already made a brief appearance this season, completing six of eight passes in a loss to the New England Patriots.
