Raiders Coach Discusses Fernando Mendoza's Development
The Las Vegas Raiders are focusing on the development of rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who was drafted as their future starter. To ease his transition, the team signed veteran Kirk Cousins, allowing Mendoza to learn without the pressure of being the primary quarterback at the start of the season.
During training camp, Mendoza is expected to experience a mix of performances, which is typical for a rookie. After a challenging practice on Sunday, he rebounded with a strong showing on Monday, coinciding with the team's first practice in pads. Head coach Klint Kubiak noted that Mendoza will encounter challenges as camp progresses but expressed optimism about his overall performance.
Kubiak highlighted the nature of quarterback play, mentioning that it involves numerous plays and fluctuations in performance. He acknowledged that perfection is unattainable but believes Mendoza is making good progress. The Raiders are set to play their first preseason game against the Cardinals next Thursday night.
