This agreement includes $30 million guaranteed and comes as Mayer is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming season, particularly with the absence of top tight end Brock Bowers due to a knee injury.

Mayer, who was drafted in the second round in 2023 from Notre Dame, has recorded 83 catches for 788 yards and three touchdowns in his career. He has faced challenges with injuries, missing seven games previously and an additional six games in 2024 for personal reasons. Mayer expressed optimism for the season, citing the return of position coach Luke Steckel and the new offensive strategies being implemented by coach Klint Kubiak.
