Raiders Not Open to Trading TE Michael Mayer Last Season

Michael Mayer, the tight end for the Raiders, is set to enter the final year of his contract and is expected to serve as the team's No. 2 tight end behind Brock Bowers.

A rival general manager revealed that inquiries were made about Mayer during last year's trade deadline, but the Raiders were not willing to consider a trade. The GM speculated that minority owner Tom Brady preferred to have a solid 12 personnel setup in place ahead of the anticipated selection of a quarterback in the 2026 draft.

Mayer, who was drafted in the second round by the Raiders in 2023, has a notable college background, being the all-time leader in receptions among tight ends at Notre Dame. He is currently in the last year of a four-year rookie contract valued at over $9 million, which includes a signing bonus of nearly $3.8 million. In the previous season, he played in 13 games, recording 35 receptions for 328 yards and one touchdown.
