Raiders Rookie Receiver Malik Benson Impresses in Training Camp

Malik Benson, a rookie wide receiver for the Raiders, is making a strong impression during his first NFL training camp. Despite a college career where his production did not fully reflect his talent, Benson has been earning first-team reps alongside quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak noted that Benson is developing a connection with fellow rookie Fernando Mendoza and has shown the ability to compete at a high level. Kubiak emphasized the importance of maintaining humility and a strong work ethic as Benson progresses.

Benson's journey includes two years at Hutchinson Community College, where he was recognized as the top junior college prospect in 2023. He initially committed to Alabama but transferred after limited production, eventually finishing his college career at Oregon. Over three seasons in the NCAA, he recorded 81 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns. The Raiders are keen to utilize Benson's skills on both offense and special teams, where he can contribute as a return specialist.
