Raiders' Struggling Running Game Sparks Calls for Change
The Las Vegas Raiders are facing challenges with their running game, which has averaged only 79.2 yards per game, ranking 30th in the league after six games. Despite a 3-3 record, the team has struggled offensively, particularly in their recent 33-30 loss to the Buffalo Bills, where they managed just 65 rushing yards.
Starting running back Ashton Jeanty had a disappointing performance, carrying the ball 10 times for 22 yards, bringing his total to 313 yards on 98 attempts this season, averaging 3.2 yards per carry. In contrast, rookie Mike Washington Jr. has shown more efficiency, averaging 4.9 yards per carry with 168 yards on 34 attempts. Analysts are suggesting that the Raiders consider reducing Jeanty's role, especially as he deals with foot and ankle injuries.
Coach Klint Kubiak has not committed to any changes in the running back lineup, emphasizing the importance of both Jeanty and Washington in the offense. The Raiders' overall rushing average of 3.0 yards per carry is among the lowest in the league, and their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams will be crucial for assessing the effectiveness of their ground game.
