Raiders Tight End Michael Mayer Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension
The Las Vegas Raiders have announced a multi-year contract extension for tight end Michael Mayer, valued at $45 million over three years, with $30 million guaranteed. This agreement positions Mayer as the fifth-highest-paid tight end in the NFL based on average annual salary.
Mayer, who was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, is entering his fourth season with the Raiders. He is expected to take on a more significant role in the team's offense, particularly with star tight end Brock Bowers sidelined due to knee surgery. In his career, Mayer has recorded 788 receiving yards on 83 catches and three touchdowns, including a standout season last year with 35 catches for 328 yards and one touchdown.
This contract extension marks the largest three-year deal for a tight end in NFL history. Mayer is the first player from the Raiders' 2023 draft class to receive an extension, with only two other players from that class remaining on the team.
