Heavy showers are expected from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon, with a 90 percent chance of rain on the first day. Approximately 9.4 mm of rainfall is anticipated, along with high humidity and low visibility. The warm-up match is crucial for India's preparation ahead of the Test series commencing on August 15 in Galle.

Indian players, including captain Shubman Gill, have been practicing against spin to adapt to local conditions, as spin bowling has previously challenged the team.
