Rajah Caruth Falls Short of First Win at Daytona

Rajah Caruth, a 24-year-old driver from Washington, D.C., came close to achieving his first career victory in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series at Daytona after winning his first pole position on Friday.

During the race, Caruth led for 11 laps and won Stage 2, which secured his place in the Chase following early crashes involving Brent Crews and William Sawalich. However, in the closing laps, he was positioned second behind Carson Kvapil and ahead of Justin Allgaier when a push from Allgaier resulted in a spin and collision with the wall, leading to a 32nd-place finish.

Despite the setback, Caruth's performance allowed him to qualify for the Chase, giving him nine more chances to secure a win in his rookie season. He expressed disappointment over the missed opportunity at Daytona, noting that it would have been a significant achievement.
