Ramesh Powar Joins BCCI Selection Panel as Pragyan Ojha Takes Chair
Ramesh Powar has been appointed to the BCCI men's selection panel, replacing Ajit Agarkar, with Pragyan Ojha taking over as chairman. This decision was announced by Board secretary Devajit Saikia on October 19, 2026, after the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) made a unanimous recommendation.
The CAC, consisting of Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, conducted interviews with several candidates before selecting Powar, who has previously represented India in two Tests and 31 One-Day Internationals. His coaching experience includes leading the India women's team and working with Mumbai and Gujarat teams.
Ojha assumes the chairperson role due to his extensive Test experience among the panel members. The new selection committee also includes Shiv Sunder Das, R.P. Singh, and Ajay Ratra, alongside Powar. The BCCI acknowledged Agarkar's contributions during his tenure, which included overseeing a successful period for Indian cricket.
