Rams Release Kicker Harrison Mevis, Sign Blake Grupe

The Los Angeles Rams have announced the release of kicker Harrison Mevis and have signed Blake Grupe from the New York Jets' practice squad. This decision follows Mevis's underwhelming performance during the team's Week 5 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills.

In that game, Mevis missed two crucial field goals: a 50-yarder on the opening drive and a 48-yarder in overtime, which was deflected. Over five games this season, he successfully converted 14 of 14 extra-point attempts but only 5 of 9 field goals, including several misses from 40-49 yards and one from over 50 yards.

Mevis, who went undrafted in 2024, had previously played for the Missouri Tigers and had a notable college career. Grupe, his replacement, has experience with the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts, where he had a successful stint before being waived by the Colts and claimed by the Jets.
