Rangers Add Aidan Curry to 40-Man Roster
The Texas Rangers have added right-handed pitcher Aidan Curry to their 40-man roster, as reported by Joel Sherman of The New York Post. This decision comes ahead of the deadline that would have allowed Curry to enter minor league free agency.
Curry, who stands 6'5" and weighs 205 pounds, signed with the Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Over seven seasons in the minors, he has primarily served as a starter, showcasing a five-pitch repertoire and the ability to reach mid-90s with his fastball. Despite mixed results, he was previously ranked among the top 30 prospects in the Texas farm system.
This season, Curry had a 4.93 earned run average over 104 innings, striking out 29% of batters while dealing with a 12.4% walk rate, which may lead to a future role in the bullpen. With 10 players set to become free agents, the Rangers now have 37 players on their 40-man roster, allowing for potential roster adjustments in the upcoming season.
