Rangers Call Up Jarred Kelenic, Designate Jonah Bride for Assignment
The Texas Rangers have announced the selection of outfielder Jarred Kelenic's contract, marking his third call-up to the majors this year. In a corresponding move, infielder Jonah Bride has been designated for assignment.
Just two days prior, Bride was added to the roster, which had been unbalanced with three primary outfielders but lacking a bench outfielder. Kelenic, who began the season with the White Sox, has had a tumultuous year, including a stint with the Rangers earlier in June and a minor league deal that ended with his release in July.
Kelenic, a former top prospect, has shown strong performance in the minors with a .310 batting average this year, but has struggled in the majors with a .211 average over his career. Bride, on the other hand, has a .220 career average in the big leagues and will now enter waivers after the trade deadline.
