Rangers Designate Austin Wynns for Assignment Following Jansen's Return
The Texas Rangers have designated catcher Austin Wynns for assignment following the reinstatement of Danny Jansen from the 60-day injured list. This decision comes as the team adjusts its roster after Jansen's recovery from a right forearm strain that had sidelined him since June.
Wynns, who joined the Rangers after a minor league deal in June, has played in 14 games for the team, achieving a batting average of .276 during that time. However, his overall season statistics reflect a struggle at the plate, with a .146 batting average across all teams he has played for this year. With Jansen and Elias Díaz now set as the primary catchers, Wynns has been removed from the roster.
As Wynns is out of options, he will be placed on waivers in the coming days. His career batting line stands at .230, and despite not being a strong offensive player, he has been valued as a backup catcher throughout his eight-season career in Major League Baseball.
