Raul Allegre Raises Concerns Over Giants' Draft Picks
Raul Allegre, a former kicker for the New York Giants, has expressed skepticism regarding the team's recent draft picks, particularly linebacker Arvell Reese and offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa. Allegre, a two-time Super Bowl champion, believes the Giants could have chosen a more impactful defensive player instead of Reese, who was selected fifth overall.
Allegre noted that while Reese has potential, he preferred Caleb Downs, who was picked by the Dallas Cowboys. He also raised concerns about Mauigoa's health, specifically a back issue that may require surgery. Despite these concerns, both players are expected to start for the Giants, contributing to a young core that includes other promising talents.
The Giants acquired the tenth pick through a trade involving defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, which Allegre believes could have affected the team's competitiveness in the NFC East. Currently, Mauigoa is set to begin his rookie season at right guard after transitioning from tackle.
