Raul Asencio Acquitted in Explicit Video Case
Raul Asencio, a defender for Real Madrid, has been acquitted by a Spanish court regarding allegations of distributing a sexually explicit video involving a minor. The ruling was made in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, where the charges against him were formally withdrawn.
The case involved the recording and sharing of a video linked to an intimate encounter at a beach club in June 2023. While Asencio was cleared, three of his former academy teammates received one-year suspended sentences for child pornography and were mandated to attend a sexual re-education course.
In a statement, Asencio expressed relief at the acquittal, reflecting on the difficulties he faced during the judicial process. He also acknowledged a separate incident involving a drink-driving conviction, for which Real Madrid has initiated disciplinary proceedings.
